Crab Cakes

Dipping Sauce

Method

Crab Cakes Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, green onions, beaten eggs, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Cakes

Using your hands, form the mixture into patties, about 2 inches in diameter. Place the formed crab cakes on a plate.

  3. 3

    Chill

Cover the plate with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help the cakes hold their shape while frying.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  5. 5

    Fry Crab Cakes

Carefully add the crab cakes to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain

Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Dipping Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix Sauce Ingredients

In a small mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, and hot sauce. Mix well until smooth.

  2. 8

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the sauce and adjust the hot sauce according to your preference for spice.
