Funnel Fries
Caramel Dipping Sauce
Method
Funnel Fries
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 2
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Fry the Funnel Fries
Once the oil is hot, pour the batter into a funnel or squeeze bottle with a small opening. Hold the funnel over the hot oil and pour the batter in a spiral motion to create long, thin strips. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through if necessary.

Caramel Dipping Sauce
- 6
Make the Caramel
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and butter. Stir until the butter is melted and the sugar begins to dissolve.
- 7
Add Heavy Cream
Once the mixture is bubbly and smooth, carefully add the heavy cream while stirring constantly. Be cautious as the mixture may bubble up.
- 8
Finish the Sauce
Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in a pinch of salt.
