Cheese Sticks

Method

Cheese Sticks Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coating

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs in the second bowl, and mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.

  2. 2

    Coat the Cheese Sticks

Dip each mozzarella stick first in the flour, shaking off the excess, then in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each stick is evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Freeze the Coated Sticks

Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes until solid. This helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly when frying.

Frying the Cheese Sticks

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 5

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pot.

  3. 6

    Drain and Serve

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried sticks from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with marinara sauce.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Cook the Garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 8

    Make the Sauce

Add the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

  3. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  4. 10

    Serve with Mozzarella Sticks

Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving. This marinara sauce pairs perfectly with your crispy mozzarella sticks.
