Jalapeno Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Jalapenos
Wash the jalapenos thoroughly. Cut each jalapeno in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes using a small spoon or knife. This will reduce the heat level.
Filling
- 2
Mix the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
- 3
Stuff the Jalapenos
Using a spoon, fill each jalapeno half with the cream cheese mixture, ensuring they are generously filled.
Breading
- 4
Prepare the Breading Stations
Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt.
- 5
Bread the Jalapenos
Take each stuffed jalapeno and first coat it in flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until well coated.
Cooking
- 6
Fry the Jalapenos
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the breaded jalapenos in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
