Method

Preparation of the Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until the ingredients are evenly distributed. Avoid over-mixing to keep the burgers tender.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Make sure it's hot enough to sear the patties.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese (Optional)

If you prefer cheeseburgers, add a slice of cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked patty on top, followed by pickles, diced onions, and if deluxe, add lettuce, mayonnaise, and tomato slices. For an extra kick, add sliced jalapeños.

  3. 8

    Finish the Assembly

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately, with additional condiments on the side if desired.
