Method
Crab Bites Preparation
- 1
Mix the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the fresh crab meat, cream cheese, chopped jalapeno, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 2
Form the Bites
Using your hands, shape the crab mixture into small balls or patties, about 1-2 inches in diameter. Place them on a tray lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Prepare for Breading
Set up a breading station by placing the flour in one shallow dish, the beaten egg in another, and the bread crumbs in a third dish.
- 4
Bread the Bites
Take each crab bite, roll it in the flour, dip it in the beaten egg, and then coat it with bread crumbs. Ensure each bite is evenly coated and place them back on the tray.
Frying
- 5
- 6
Fry the Crab Bites
Carefully add the breaded crab bites to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 7
Drain the Bites
Using a slotted spoon, remove the crab bites from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Cocktail Sauce Preparation
- 8
Mix the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish sauce, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well until fully combined.
