Method
Cook the Fettuccine
- 1
Boil pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 10–12 minutes.
- 2
Drain the pasta and reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.
Make the Sauce
- 3
In a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- 4
Add the heavy cream and stir to combine. Simmer gently for 3–4 minutes, allowing the cream to reduce slightly.
- 5
Add the grated Parmesan cheese gradually, stirring constantly to melt and blend the cheese into the sauce.
- 6
Season with salt and black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen it.
Combine and Serve
- 7
Add the cooked fettuccine to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to evenly coat the pasta in the sauce.
- 8
Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and freshly cracked black pepper if desired.
