Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease four ramekins with butter.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until combined. Then, add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Sift the all-purpose flour into the chocolate mixture and fold gently until just combined.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about ¾ full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Allow the chocolate volcanoes to cool for 1 minute, then invert onto plates. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
