Base Ingredients

Mascarpone Mixture

Method

Prepare Coffee

  1. 1

    Brew Coffee

Brew a cup of espresso or strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature.

Make the Custard

  1. 2

    Whisk Egg Yolks and Sugar

In a medium bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture turns pale and thick.

  2. 3

    Combine with Mascarpone

Add 1 cup of mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and mix gently until smooth.

  3. 4

    Whip Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form.

  4. 5

    Fold Cream into Mixture

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

  5. 6

    Add Vanilla

Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer Ingredients

In a 9x9 inch square dish, create a layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by a layer of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with the mascarpone layer on top.

  3. 9

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

Serve

  1. 10

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if desired.

  2. 11

    Slice and Enjoy

Slice into squares and serve chilled.
