Method
Preparing the Fries
- 1
Preheat the vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 180°C (350°F).
- 2
Add the frozen French fries in batches and fry for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 3
Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. Season with salt to taste.
Making the Gravy
- 4
In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- 5
Whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until it turns a light golden color.
- 6
Gradually pour in the beef broth while continuously whisking to prevent lumps.
- 7
Add the soy sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder, and continue to cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
Assembling the Cheese Fries
- 8
On a large serving platter or individual plates, layer the hot, crispy fries.
- 9
Pour the hot gravy generously over the fries.
- 10
Sprinkle the bacon bits and shredded cheese on top of the gravy.
- 11
Add the deep-fried cheese bites for an extra cheesy touch.
- 12
Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your Mauna Loa Gravy Cheese Fries!
