Deep Fried Pickles
Cronies Dipping Sauce
Method
Deep Fried Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the jar of dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- 3
Add Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place in the hot oil. Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Cronies Dipping Sauce
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, dill pickle relish, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 8
Mix Well
Stir the mixture until fully combined and smooth.
- 9
Chill
Refrigerate the dipping sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- 10
Serve
Serve the dipping sauce alongside the deep-fried pickles for dipping.
