Preparing the Burger Patty

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until evenly combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Forming Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Remove the patties from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes to retain their juices.

Wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomato. Set aside.

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, and garlic powder until well combined.

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty, tomato slice, and a generous amount of special sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
