Burger Patties

Buns and Toppings

Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, slightly larger than the buns to account for shrinkage during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place one slice of Swiss cheese and one slice of American cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid to help the cheese melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are finishing, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Layer on lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles. Place the cooked burger patty on top of the vegetables.

  3. 8

    Serve

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
