Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan or cast iron skillet.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Add Cheese and Chives
Fold in the shredded Wisconsin cheddar and chopped chives until evenly distributed.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the cornbread cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with Irish whipped butter.
