Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Bring Steak to Room Temperature

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steaks dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of each steak with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a heavy skillet or cast iron pan over high heat for about 5 minutes until it is very hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the ribeye steaks in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them until a nice crust forms. Flip the steaks.

  3. 5

    Add Optional Ingredients

If using, add garlic cloves, fresh rosemary, and butter to the pan after flipping the steaks.

  4. 6

    Finish Cooking

Cook the second side for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare).

Resting

  1. 7

    Let the Steak Rest

Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
