Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Juicing the Lemons

Roll the fresh lemons on the countertop to break down the membranes, then cut them in half. Use a citrus juicer or a hand-held juicer to extract the juice from all 6 lemons into a measuring cup. Remove any seeds.

  2. 2

    Dissolving the Sugar

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar with 2 cups of water. Heat over medium heat while stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.

  3. 3

    Mixing the Lemonade

In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the sugar syrup (from the saucepan), and the remaining 4 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Chilling and Serving

If desired, add mint leaves for flavor and ice cubes to chill. Serve the lemonade in glasses, garnished with a mint sprig or lemon slice if desired.
