Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Drain the pickle chips and jalapeño slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Breading

  1. 3

    Bread the Pickles and Jalapeños

Dip each pickle chip and jalapeño slice first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the cornmeal mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Battered Chips

Carefully place breaded pickle chips and jalapeño slices into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown.

  3. 6

    Drain and Cool

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried chips from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat with remaining chips.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Hot

Serve the fried pickle chips and jalapeño slices hot with your choice of dipping sauce, such as ranch or sriracha.
