Steak Preparation
- 1
Pound the Steak
Using a meat mallet, pound the beef round steaks to about 1/2 inch thickness. This will help tenderize the meat and make it cook more evenly.
- 2
Season the Steak
Sprinkle both sides of the steaks with salt and black pepper. Let them sit while you prepare the breading.
- 3
Prepare Breading Stations
Set up three shallow dishes: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one empty for the breaded steaks.
- 4
- 5
Fry the Steaks
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded steaks and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Gravy Preparation
- 6
- 7
Add Milk
Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
- 8
Season the Gravy
Add salt and black pepper to the gravy, adjusting to taste. Stir well to combine.
- 9
Serve
Pour the creamy country gravy generously over the fried steaks. Serve hot.
