Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins (6 oz each) with butter and lightly dust them with cocoa powder.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter in the microwave until fully melted. Allow it to cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  3. 8

    Cool Slightly

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them sit for 1 minute before inverting onto plates.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Dust the warm cakes with powdered sugar. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
