Method

For the Grits

  1. 1

    Cook the Grits

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, stir in the grits and salt. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for approximately 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

  2. 2

    Add Milk and Butter

Once the grits are thick, stir in the milk, butter, black pepper, and cheddar cheese. Mix until creamy and cheese is melted. Keep warm until ready to serve.

For the Shrimp

  1. 3

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp and cajun seasoning to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.

  3. 5

Add Lemon Juice and Green Onions

In the same skillet, add lemon juice and chopped green onions. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

For the Sauce

  1. 6

    Prepare the Sauce

In the same skillet, add chicken broth, heavy cream, butter, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  2. 7

    Combine and Serve

Return the shrimp to the skillet, mix to coat with the sauce, and heat through. Serve the shrimp mixture over the creamy grits.
