Bread Pudding

Method

Bread Pudding

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture over the bread cubes. Add the raisins or currants and gently stir to ensure the bread is evenly coated. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.

  5. 5

    Bake

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool

Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Vanilla Sauce

  1. 7

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. 8

    Combine Ingredients

Add the sugar, cream, and vanilla extract to the melted butter, stirring to combine.

  3. 9

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water until smooth. Add this mixture to the saucepan and cook while stirring until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 10

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve warm over the bread pudding.
