Blood Orange Shrub

Method

Blood Orange Shrub

  1. 1

    Prepare the Blood Oranges

Juice the blood oranges until you have 4 cups of juice. Strain the juice to remove any seeds and pulp.

  2. 2

    Make the Shrub

In a medium saucepan, combine the blood orange juice, sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  3. 3

    Cool and Store Shrub

Once the mixture is combined, remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Pour the shrub into a clean bottle or jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before using.

Margarita

  1. 4

    Prepare the Glass

Rub the rim of a glass with a lime wedge and dip it into salt to coat the rim.

  2. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, blood orange shrub, fresh lime juice, and triple sec. Add ice cubes to fill the shaker halfway.

  3. 6

    Shake the Margarita

Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds.

  4. 7

    Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice. Garnish with a slice of blood orange.
