Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mushrooms

Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium heat. Clean the portobello mushrooms, removing the stems and gills if desired.

  2. 2

    Season the Mushrooms

In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Brush the mixture onto both sides of the mushrooms.

  3. 3

    Cook the Mushrooms

Place the mushrooms on the grill or skillet, gill side down. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until tender.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese (Optional)

If using cheese, place a slice on each mushroom during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns if desired. Spread mayonnaise or your choice of sauce on the bottom bun, add the cooked mushroom cap, followed by lettuce and tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the mushroom burgers immediately with your favorite side dishes.
