Method
Preparing the Fries
- 1
Cutting the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to create fries.
- 2
Soaking the Potatoes
Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and creates crispier fries.
- 3
Drying the Potatoes
Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove any moisture.
- 4
Frying the Potatoes
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder while hot.
