Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center, then add olive oil and the activated yeast mixture.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone inside if you have one.

  2. 6

    Prepare Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to a 12-inch round.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce

Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly across the surface.

  4. 8

    Layer Toppings

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce, then add the crumbled fennel sausage, smoked onions, and roasted mushrooms. Finish with grated Parmesan cheese.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.
