Prepare Meatballs

Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.
Make Marinara Sauce

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in canned crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assemble Sub

Prepare Sub Rolls
Slice the sub rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.

Fill with Meatballs
Place 3-4 meatballs inside each sub roll and spoon marinara sauce over the meatballs.

Add Cheese
Top each sub with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Melt Cheese
Place assembled subs under the broiler for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Optionally garnish with fresh basil. Serve hot and enjoy your meatball sub!
