Method
Preparing the Fries
- 1
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This will help make them crispy.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 4
Season the Fries
Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a kitchen towel. In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and paprika until evenly coated.
- 5
Bake the Fries
Spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.
Preparing the Toppings
- 6
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions, sliced mushrooms, and sweet bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened.
- 7
- 8
Melt the Cheese
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the white American cheese until melted and creamy.
Assembly
- 9
Assemble the Fries
Once the fries are out of the oven and crispy, place them on a serving platter. Spoon the sautéed vegetable and plant-based beef mixture over the fries.
- 10
Serve Immediately
Serve the Impossible Fries hot, garnished with additional herbs or spices if desired.
