Pomodoro Sauce

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

Pomodoro Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes

Add the canned whole tomatoes (with juices) to the saucepan. Break the tomatoes up with a spoon and bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Season Sauce

Stir in chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the pomodoro sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes.

  2. 8

    Prepare Sides

While the meatballs are simmering, prepare the salad by tossing mixed greens with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to taste.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the meatballs topped with provolone cheese melted over them, alongside the prepared side salad and slices of artisan bread.
