Method

Turkey Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Turkey

Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil all over the turkey, including under the skin.

  3. 3

    Season the Turkey

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh thyme. Rub this mixture evenly over the turkey, ensuring it gets into all the crevices.

  4. 4

    Add Lemon Juice

Drizzle lemon juice over the turkey for added flavor.

  5. 5

    Roast the Turkey

Place the turkey breast side up in a roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for about 3 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Baste the turkey every hour with the pan juices.

  6. 6

    Rest the Turkey

Once done, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before pulling the meat from the bones.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Ingredients

While the turkey is resting, slice the tomato and onion thinly. Set aside.

  2. 8

    Pull the Turkey

Using your hands or two forks, pull the turkey meat into bite-sized pieces.

  3. 9

    Assemble the Sandwich

Take a slice of bread and spread a generous amount of mayonnaise on one side. Layer with pulled turkey, a slice of provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Top with another slice of bread.

  4. 10

    Serve

Cut the sandwich in half if desired and serve immediately. Enjoy your homemade turkey sandwich!
