Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Slice the ribeye steak into thin strips against the grain for maximum tenderness.

  2. 2

    Slice the Vegetables

Thinly slice the onion, mushrooms, and hot or sweet peppers.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak, season with salt and black pepper, and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the mushrooms and peppers, and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables and mix well to combine.

  4. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Layer the white American cheese over the steak and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Hoagie Rolls

Slice the hoagie rolls open lengthwise, but not all the way through.

  2. 8

    Fill the Rolls

Spoon the steak and cheese mixture into each hoagie roll until filled.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your classic cheesesteak!
