Method

Potato Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Use a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife to slice the potatoes into thin, even slices about 1/16 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Slices

Place the potato slices in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Slices

Drain the potato slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accurate temperature.

  5. 5

    Fry the Chips

Working in batches, add the potato slices to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with sea salt and any optional seasonings.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the chips to cool completely before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dip or on their own!

Tortilla Chips

  1. 8

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

  2. 9

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 10

    Fry the Tortilla Wedges

Working in batches, add the tortilla wedges to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden and crispy.

  4. 11

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the tortilla chips from the oil and drain them on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with sea salt.

  5. 12

    Cool and Serve

Let the tortilla chips cool slightly before serving. Pair with salsa, guacamole, or your favorite dip!
