Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Dish

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. A mandoline slicer works well for this.

  3. 3

    Cook the Prosciutto

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the diced prosciutto until crispy. Remove and set aside.

  4. 4

    Make the Cream Mixture

In a bowl, combine heavy cream, garlic, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Mix well.

  5. 5

    Layer the Potatoes

In the greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the gruyere cheese.

  6. 6

    Add Prosciutto

Sprinkle half of the crispy prosciutto over the cheese layer.

  7. 7

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, gruyere cheese, and prosciutto.

  8. 8

    Top with Parmesan

Finish with a layer of grated parmesan cheese on top.

  9. 9

    Bake

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

  10. 10

    Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
