Fried Oysters and Bacon

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the north country bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and let drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Oysters

In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well. Dip each oyster into the buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.

  3. 3

    Fry the Oysters

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the coated oysters in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried oysters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. 4

    Serve

Arrange the fried oysters on a serving platter. Top with the crispy bacon and garnish with lemon wedges. Serve immediately.
