Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso and allow it to cool down to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Mix Coffee

In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur, stirring until sugar is dissolved.

Mascarpone Mixture Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare Mascarpone

In a large mixing bowl, combine 16 oz of mascarpone cheese with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.

  2. 4

    Whip Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.

  4. 6

    Separate Eggs

Separate 3 large eggs, placing the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another.

  5. 7

    Beat Egg Yolks

Beat the egg yolks until thick and pale, then fold them into the mascarpone mixture.

  6. 8

    Beat Egg Whites

In the bowl with the egg whites, beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 9

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they're soaked but not soggy.

  2. 10

    Layering

In a rectangular dish, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers, followed by a layer of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with the mascarpone mixture on top.

  3. 11

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Final Touch

  1. 12

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top layer of mascarpone with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle with shaved or grated dark chocolate.

  2. 13

    Serve

Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
