Dough Preparation
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
Knead the Dough
Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Filling Assembly
Prepare the Dough
Once the dough has risen, preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 12x16 inches.
Add Sauce and Cheese
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, followed by pepperoni slices and Italian seasoning.
Roll the Stromboli
Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a log shape. Pinch the seams to seal, and tuck the ends under.
Prepare for Baking
Transfer the rolled Stromboli to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Toppings and Baking
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Cool and Serve
Once baked, let the Stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
