Method

Prepare the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time according to your preferred doneness.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Prepare the Vegetables

  1. 4

    Slice the Vegetables

While the steak is resting, slice the green bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the steak, add the sliced vegetables. Sauté over medium heat until they are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 6

    Slice the Steak

Thinly slice the rested ribeye steak against the grain.

  2. 7

    Build the Sandwich

On each sub roll, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Layer the sliced steak, sautéed vegetables, and top with provolone cheese.

  3. 8

    Melt the Cheese

Place the sandwiches under a broiler for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve

  1. 9

    Add Hot Sauce

Drizzle hot sauce over the melted cheese to taste.

  2. 10

    Cut and Serve

Cut the sandwiches in half and serve immediately with your choice of sides.
