Method
Cooking the Spaghetti
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.
- 2
Cook Spaghetti
Once the water is boiling, add the 8 oz of spaghetti. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 3
Drain and Set Aside
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse.
Making the Pizza Sauce

Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour in the 28 oz of crushed tomatoes. Stir in 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- 6
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Finish with Cheese
Once the sauce has thickened, stir in 0.5 cups of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
