Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Cook the Burger Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Cooking Surface

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the burger patties.

  2. 4

    Cook First Side

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip them over.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese and Finish Cooking

After flipping, place a slice of smoked provolone cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Prepare the Onion Rings

  1. 6

    Cook Onion Rings

If using store-bought onion rings, cook them according to package instructions until crispy. If making homemade, dip sliced onion rings in batter and fry until golden brown.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast Buns

While the patties and onion rings are cooking, butter the insides of the burger buns and toast them on the grill or in a pan until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Assemble Ingredients

To assemble, place the cheeseburger patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun, top with onion rings, and drizzle with Joe’s BBQ sauce.

  3. 9

    Serve

Place the top half of the bun on the burger and serve immediately.
