Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the pork spare ribs. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Dry Rub

In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.

  3. 3

    Apply the Dry Rub

Rub the dry rub mixture evenly over both slabs of ribs. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 5

    Prepare the BBQ Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is well combined and simmer for about 10 minutes.

  3. 6

    Bake the Ribs

Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs with another piece of foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the ribs are tender.

  4. 7

    Glaze the Ribs

Remove the foil from the ribs and brush generously with the prepared BBQ sauce. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes to caramelize the sauce.

Serving

  1. 8

    Prepare the Sides

While the ribs are baking, prepare the coleslaw and cornbread according to your favorite recipes.

  2. 9

    Serve

Slice the ribs between the bones and serve with coleslaw and cornbread on the side.
