Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Yams
Wash the yams thoroughly under running water. Peel the yams using a vegetable peeler and cut them into 1-inch cubes.

Boil the Yams
In a large pot, add the cubed yams and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes until they are tender but not mushy. Drain and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the boiled yams, olive oil, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, black pepper, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the yams are fully coated.

Transfer the yam mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Sprinkle the marshmallows evenly over the top of the yams.
