Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 16 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Steep Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add 8 black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 10-15 minutes, depending on how strong you want the flavor.

  3. 3

    Remove Tea Bags

After steeping, carefully remove the tea bags from the pot, making sure not to squeeze them to avoid bitterness.

Sweetening the Tea

  1. 4

    Add Sugar

While the tea is still warm, stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar until completely dissolved.

Flavoring and Cooling

  1. 5

    Add Lemon and Mint

Add 1 whole sliced lemon and 1 cup of fresh mint leaves to the sweetened tea for added flavor.

  2. 6

    Cool the Tea

Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled, about 1-2 hours.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Chilled

Serve the sweet tea in a large pitcher over ice, garnished with additional lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.
