Method

Chicken Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate Chicken

In a bowl, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Dip each chicken thigh first into the wet mixture, then coat with the flour mixture. Place on a plate and let marinate for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Fry Chicken

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the marinated chicken thighs. Fry for about 7-10 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove from oil and let drain on paper towels.

Waffle Preparation

  1. 3

    Make Waffle Batter

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vegetable oil. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  2. 4

    Cook Waffles

Preheat a waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions. Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown. Repeat until all batter is used.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Serve

On a plate, place one waffle, top with a piece of fried chicken, and drizzle generously with maple syrup. Repeat with the second waffle and chicken. Enjoy!
