Cracker Ingredients
Method
Cracker Preparation
- 1
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
- 2
Incorporate Butter
Add the unsalted butter to the dry ingredients. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3
Add Water
Gradually add the water to the mixture, stirring until the dough begins to come together. You may need to add a bit more water if the dough is too dry, but avoid making it sticky.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 2-3 minutes until smooth. Do not over-knead.
- 5
Roll Out the Dough
Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll out each part to about 1/8 inch thickness using a rolling pin. Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the dough into squares or rectangles.
- 6
Prepare for Baking
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the cut crackers on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.
- 7
Season with Sea Salt
Sprinkle the tops of the crackers with sea salt to taste.
- 8
Bake the Crackers
Bake the crackers in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crisp. Keep an eye on them as baking times may vary.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove the crackers from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack. Arrange them around a plate for serving.
