Mashed Potatoes

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks. Rinse under cold water.

  2. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover with water. Add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain and Dry

Drain the potatoes in a colander and let them sit for a few minutes to allow excess moisture to evaporate.

  4. 4

    Mash the Potatoes

Return the potatoes to the pot. Add the butter and heavy cream. Use a potato masher or a hand mixer to mash the potatoes to your desired consistency.

  5. 5

    Season

Season the mashed potatoes with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Mix well to combine.

  6. 6

    Serve

Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped chives if desired. Serve warm.
