Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the oven and pan

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt chocolate and butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the semisweet chocolate and butter together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix in sugar and eggs

Stir in the granulated sugar until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Add cocoa powder

Sift the cocoa powder into the mixture and stir until fully incorporated.

  5. 5

    Bake the torte

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.

  6. 6

    Serve with toppings

Once cooled, top the torte with whipped cream and fresh berries before serving.
