Preparation Steps
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
Cut the chicken breast into strips and place them in a bowl. Pour the buttermilk over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Dredge
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and allow the excess to drip off. Dredge each strip in the flour mixture, making sure to coat all sides. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken Strips
Carefully add the chicken strips to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 6
Serve
Serve the chicken strips hot, with your favorite dipping sauces.
