Meatballs

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Meatballs

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground lamb, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce

In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of Greek yogurt, 1/2 cucumber (grated and drained), 1 garlic clove (minced), 1 tbsp of olive oil, 1 tbsp of lemon juice, and salt to taste. Mix well.

  5. 5

    Pickle the Red Onions

In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup of thinly sliced red onions with 1/2 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup of water, 1 tbsp of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Let sit for at least 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Dish

Serve the meatballs in warm pita bread, topped with pickled red onions and tzatziki sauce.
