Pizza Dough and Toppings

Method

Pizza Preparation

1

Prepare the Dough

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

2

Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

3

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone inside if you have one.

4

Shape the Pizza

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet.

5

Add Toppings

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza base. Tear the fior di latte cheese into pieces and distribute it over the sauce. Top with fresh basil leaves.

6

Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or pizza stone) and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

7

Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve hot with extra basil if desired.
