Salmon
Wood for Grilling
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Salmon
Start by patting the salmon fillet dry with a paper towel. This helps to achieve a nice sear.
- 2
Season the Salmon
In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Rub this mixture all over the salmon fillet.
Grilling
- 3
Prepare the Grill
Soak the hickory wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling. This helps to create smoke during cooking.
- 4
Heat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Once hot, drain the wood chips and add them to the grill's smoker box or directly on the coals.
- 5
Grill the Salmon
Place the seasoned salmon fillet skin-side down on the grill grates. Close the lid and grill for about 6-8 minutes, or until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- 6
Serve
Carefully remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your wood fire salmon with a side of vegetables or a fresh salad.
