Method

For the Jalapeno Bottle Caps

  1. 1

    Prepare Jalapenos

Wash the jalapenos thoroughly. Slice the jalapenos into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Remove seeds if you prefer less heat, then set aside.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs and milk together in the second bowl, and mix cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Jalapenos

Dip each jalapeno slice into the flour, shaking off excess. Then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the cornmeal mixture. Set the breaded slices on a plate.

  4. 4

    Fry the Jalapenos

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded jalapeno slices in batches, cooking until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

For the Housemade Ranch

  1. 5

    Mix Ranch Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk. Whisk until smooth.

  2. 6

    Add Seasonings

Add dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir well to combine.

  3. 7

    Chill the Ranch

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
